Do you have a performing artist friend that would like to book their own gigs throughout the USA? Would you like to be come a booking agent? One of my most experienced booking agents is offering a course for just 6 people, to teach them what he knows. HIS message is here: STUDENT COMMENTS: “These classes were exactly what I needed to help me move to the next level in this business Chris is an extraordinary mentor and I learned a lot of great things about the business that I didn't know.” Calvin Arrington- Calvin Arrington Marketing “He taught me a quick way to get into the business by scoping for locations and business clients. I highly recommend others to take his course.” Rod White- Solo Music Publishing // Uni Soul Radio Network & Records Worldwide. “I’ve been promoting shows for senior bus tours for years. However what Chris has taught me raised my skill set as a promoter to a level I didn’t think was possible. Thanks Chris." Dominic Maggio- Agent / promoter upstate NY Hello: My name is Chris Mac Neill, I'm 72 years old living in Las Vegas and I’ve been a “personal appearance” agent and promoter for 50 years and I still “love” what I do and don’t plan to stop anytime soon! I've been working out of my home for the last 25 years and that's very comforting to me and my family now during this virus pandemic. The good news is that "live" entertainment "is" and "always" has been something people crave to help forget whatever strife they're dealing with. And it will be "so" again! We'll go over how shows are still able to be booked / promoted even during this pandemic in several states now with more to follow. SESSIONS I'm teaching classes of no more than 6 people per class via 4 90 minute training sessions on Free Conference Call.com Monday- Thursday from 6:30 pm- 8 pm PST Classes continue in June. Session # 1 covers the role / job description of the manager, agent. middle agent, theater, and media with regards to "personal appearance" bookings. You'll learn what it takes to manage, book, market and promote an act like Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld or a Def Comedy Jam. I start with their early beginnings in clubs, to concert touring to eventually getting their own network TV shows. Session # 2 explains the different procedures / strategies needed when booking a show / artist in clubs, theaters, casinos, festivals, fairs and arenas. You'll learn how to calculate show expenses, establish the maximum gross potential of each event including the negotiating of the artist's %'s of the gate / ticket sales. Session # 3 deals with 5-6 different acts / shows that tour regularly and how each act caters to a "different" audience demographic and how to locate that demo for each act. Session # 4 will walk you through step by step how to put together a proposal to find investors for your concert / event including a simple agreement that you can use for your investors. I'll teach you how to submit an offer for an "A" list artist / show with the major agencies. BTW I ran a major agency in NYC for 15 years with 4 offices in different states and supervised over 40 + agents and their interns. NOTE There's no school or college that you can attend that can offer you an education to learn what I have to offer you. You'd need to get an internship at an agency or concert promotion company. Or start from scratch and open you're own company and learn through "trial & error". I can teach you "what" to do but also what "not" to do! . BACKGROUND:: I was the "PA" agent (personal appearance) for Leno for 10 years and Seinfeld for 7 when they 1st started out in the business and was fortunate enough to help groom and watch them grow through the years. I personally booked "every" concert date for Def Comedy Jam for their 1st 2 1/2 years of touring and promoted dates myself. That relationship with Def Comedy opened the door an allowed me to book and represent many of the comics that got their start in the business on HBO's Def Comedy Jam. Scroll down to read my "Entertainment Work Bio" MY ALUMNI / INTERNS: During my time as an agent / promoter I've trained and worked with some of the best talent agents in the business. If you're already in the entertainment business you might be familiar with some of my alumni that started their career working as my " interns": JP Williams Producer and creator of "Blue Collar" Comedy touring, TV & records. and managed names like Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, & Jeff Foxworthy Steve Levine an ICM partner, and head of all PA agents and "still" one of the hardest working agents I know. Bobby Kinkead owner of Kinkead Entertainment Nashviile "exclusively" representing over 30 country artists and comedians BTW Bobby and his agents are "kick ass!" COST: The cost for this class is $300.00 per person and I'd suggest you tape the conference calls so you can listen to them over and over. However 4 sessions won't teach you all you need to know. That will come with the amount of time and energy you're willing to invest. But whenever you need advice or help I'm just a phone call away and there's "no charge" for advice or help. If you're interested please contact me through Terry Barber to set a time when I can speak with you to answer any questions about the class before you decide to sign up.. Thanks, Chris Mac Neill / Mac's Productions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORK BIO Chris Mac Neill 1971-Present This is my “entertainment” work bio from 1971-Present. I don't use a resume and never needed one because when I got back from Vietnam and discharged from the Navy in 1971, I’ve been self- employed in the entertainment business. Before my role as a "personal appearance” agent representing Broadway shows, Beatlemania, Oh Calcutta, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, comedians Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Bernie Mac and others, I honed my skills booking duos, trios, hypnotists and show bands at Holiday Inns and night clubs. I was like Woody Allen’s “Broadway Danny Rose” of New England. BTW a great movie about our business. 1971- 1975: My first job as a "PA" agent was with Northeast Entertainment in Lowell Massachusetts. I handled the New England territory and booked duos, show bands, hypnotists, magicians and jugglers. I spent ½ my time in the office on the phone and ½ on the road servicing my bookings. Some days I would drive 1000 miles just to say hello to my accounts. On weekends I'd book my own “Ragtime Jazz” band. I worked 70 hour weeks, and loved it. (till do) My first "name" act booking and “decent” commission was the “Amazing Kreskin” and that changed my life! I knew I needed to book “name” acts ($$$) and went to work in NYC. 1975-1990: I worked for Spotlite Enterprise whose office was in the “Hard Rock” Café building on 57th Street between Broadway & 7th Ave. During my time there I rose thru the ranks from booking agent, to manager of the NYC office, to Vice President and then to President in charge of all "PA" bookings for the company’s 4 offices in LA, Tulsa, Virginia Beach and NYC. I was responsible for 52 agents and their assistants and we did conference call meetings 3 x’s a week. BTW we were “salesman” more than agents. We didn't “wait” for incoming calls. We were all on “draw vs commission.” The only major agency that paid their agents that way. Spotlite in the 70’s represented such acts as Jimmie “JJ” Walker, disco acts Gloria Gaynor, and Andrea “True” Connection. Buddy Rich & his Orchestra, Freddie Fender, the Oakridge Boys, Coasters, Drifters, Platters and the Amazing Kreskin. In 1979 Jimmie Walker’s manager, asked us to book a new comic from Boston named Jay Leno and that was the beginning of Spotlite's reputation as the “Kings of Comedy” agency. Leno was so respected by all the other working comics because Jay was the 1st comic to perform 90 minute sets, that they all wanted to sign with Spotlite for their “stand up” bookings. Comics like Jerry Seinfeld, Dennis Miller, Bill Maher, Damon Wayans, Jamie Foxx, Jeff Foxworthy. Bill Engvall, Brian Regan and others. Spotlite had comics begging us to book them. In fact the “Improv” clubs and “Catch a Rising” clubs hired Spotlight as their “exclusive” booking agent during the 80’s. NOTE Booking Jay Leno for over 10 years starting out in 120 seat comedy clubs, to 750 -1000 seat theaters, to 3000 seat amphitheaters was an incredible learning experience for me. A valuable lesson on how to properly “groom” a “stand up” career which I then applied to Jerry Seinfeld’s 7 years at Spotlite. Plus with my bookings of Broadway shows, I learned the “ins & outs” of how to “deal & negotiate” with promoters, theaters their stage hands, box office, advertising, labor costs, liability insurance, marketing etc. 1990-1995: When the owner of Spotlite closed the company in 1990 I became partners with Jerry Ade of Famous Artists in NYC and we opened a “Black” artist comedy division. Through Jerry Ade’s relationship with Russell Simmons and our mutual relationship with LA’s Brillstein / Grey I was given HBO’s Def Comedy Jam to book. The TV show and tour was so popular that after the 1st 6 months I needed to book 2 “separate” units during the Christmas holiday 4-5 days a week! Not to brag but I personally booked “every” date for the first 2 ½ years of their tour. Needless to say I developed booking relationships with all the comics that started their stand up career on Def Comedy Jam. Comics like D.L. Hughley, David Chappelle, Steve Harvey, Adele Givens, Bill Bellamy, Martin Lawrence, Bernie Mac and others. 1996-present: I left Famous Artists to pursue concert promotions and partnered with Bernie Mac and we self-promoted all his shows for 2 years on the road. After that I started my own company Mac’s Productions working out of my home in Hermosa Beach CA. I worked as a promoter and a middle agent booking acts managed by my friends. When I was introduced to David Marquez of NWA wrestling he was and still is producing TV wrestling shows and we booked and self-promoted Lucha libre wrestling nationwide and regularly in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena. We also promoted several MMA events with future stars of UFC. For the last 17 years I’ve been working out of my home in Las Vegas with a very “select” roster of clients. I’m also hired as a middle agent by theaters and promoters that prefer to pay me a commission and have me book their shows and let "me” deal with the respective agents, managers and their contracts. They know that there’s very “little” if anything at all, that I don’t have years of experience in, when it comes to negotiating with agents and managers for "PA" bookings..
