Believe: CD for Charity

Believe photo

Beautiful music has the power to inspire, console, and enrich lives. In that spirit, Martin County resident Susie McAllister has produced a lush and lilting CD titled simply, “Believe.”

A professional musician, winner of Singing with the Stars in 2015, and a retired music teacher, Susie has a passion for the arts. “I believe that through the arts, lives are forever enriched, especially children’s lives,” Susie says.

That leads her to her other passion: donating time, talent and treasure to local non-profit organizations. All proceeds from the sale of “Believe” will go directly to Artists for a Cause and StarStruck Academy & Theatre to support arts programs for young people.

The CDs are available for a suggested donation of $20 or more HERE or through the Firefly Group at 772-287-5272.

Dance for Food - St. Louis

dff stl2

You have two chances to see Dance for Food in St. Louis this January!

January 18 & January 25
7:00 - 8:00 pm with preshow music at 6:30 pm

The Grandel Theatre
3610 Grandel Sq. in the Grand Center Arts District
St. Louis, MO

The program is designed to unite the dance community, rallying audiences to collect food for the hungry. Artistically directed by Linda Green, Dance for Food has hired many of Missouri’s finest dancers to showcase their talents to an audience whose only admission fee is a bag of unexpired, nonperishable goods.  In just a one-hour performance, each “food raiser” will include a range of moving choreography from five participating companies.

In a past triumph, Dance for Food raised more than 6,000 meals for families in a single performance, while offering an accessible cultural opportunity. The 2016 Florida series collected more than 5,000 pounds of food, which was distributed to those in need through charity food bank partners. To date, Dance for Food has raised more than 30,000 pounds of food.

Each show will offer preshow entertainment a half hour before the event from gifted young artists in the A4AC network.  For those who would like to sponsor the event, there is still time. Call A4AC at 772.419.8778, visit our website at a4ac.org, or email Terry@a4ac.org for more information.

On December 3 we kicked off our Salon Series at the home of Maureen and Tim Cotter. We are thankful for everyone who supports us through this series, especially Maureen and Tim Cotter for all they have done for our cause!

In addition to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, audiences were treated to an A4AC Update by board member, Maureen Cotter, and performances by exceptional young A4AC Talent including:

Madeline
Madeline Schoppe is thrilled to be involved with A4AC and share in tonight’s evening of music. Madeline is a 10-year old 5th grader at St. Joseph Catholic School.  Recently cast as Annie in their upcoming production, she is actively involved at StarStruck and most recently joined Terry Barber’s Les Mis Concert Synopsis Tour singing both the roles of Young Cosette and Gavroche. While she’s performed in a number of shows, favorite credits include StarStruck’s PIPPIN (Thea) and ANNIE (Annie) on stage this December. When she is not performing, Madeline enjoys dancing, singing, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

kamrynHS
Kamryn Zucker is 9 years old, a 4th grader at Bessey Creek Elementary School in Palm City.  She has been a student at StarStruck since Kindergarten and participated in their showcases, Talent Shows, and summer camp productions.  Her first big role was Miss Hannigan in their summer camp production of ANNIE.  She also had the honor of sharing the stage with Vanessa Williams at the StarStruck Fundraising Gala.  Since then Kamryn has been in several StarStruck productions like BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Silly Girl #3), LEGALLY BLONDE JR. (Winthrop, Cashier, Delta Nu), FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Velvela), SEUSSICAL (Bird Girl), and most recently BYE BYE BIRDIE (Edna, the Mayor’s wife).

She recently performed pre-show songs at Artists for a Cause’s “Dance for Food” event at the Blake Library, and will be in the upcoming Starbrite production of LES MISERABLES Synopsis in Concert, artistically directed by Terry Barber, playing both Cosette and Gavroche. Kamryn continues to develop her talent through ballet, tap, acting, voice and piano. She is so grateful to her family who believe in her and support her in every way!  A very special thank you to Jennifer & Peter Jones and the whole StarStruck family, Craig Wich, Terry Barber and Artists for a Cause for their guidance and support in helping her to pursue her dreams!

Artists for a Cause supports artists who serve community needs.
logo

Artists for a Cause is a national nonprofit organization that supports artists who serve community needs. Some programs help artists and charities to get the most out of their collaboration, while most produce results directly, by feeding the poor, healing the sick, or solving other problems through unique artistic solutions. Additionally, we never ask artist professionals in a struggling industry to donate or give away their livelihood.  No program is merely about art for arts’ sake –
Artists for a Cause is about the arts as a solution.

We would like to thank the following for their support.
