A4AC to Present "Visual Artist Showcase"

137859

Avian Eyes by Jane Blatt

We have so much talent in our network and we'd like to give visual artists a chance to showcase their work in our monthly e-newsletter through a Visual Artist Showcase. This is an opportunity for exceptional visual artists to show, promote and hopefully sell their work.

Selection for the Visual Artist Showcase is based on artistic excellence and you must be able to provide us with access to a website and/or professional photography of your work. We also ask that you donate a portion of proceeds generated either to support A4AC programs, or to a charity near and dear to your heart.

If you are interested in being a featured artist in our Visual Artist Showcase please email info@a4ac.org.

Dance for Food Sponsorship

DFF2013-sisterhood2-kloorfain

Dance for Food creates performance opportunities for professional dancers and an accessible cultural experience for the community, while collecting food for the hungry. To date, A4AC has collected more than 30,000 lbs. of food which we have donated to partnering food banks.

We would like to thank Publix for sponsoring our Dance for Food Program this year! They have given us a generous sponsorship of $5,000 which will cover the cost
one professional Dance for Food event, engage 200 audience members, 100 dancers, and provide meals for 300+ people. We are extremely appreciative and hope to continue this partnership.

Thank you Publix!!

Therapeutic Arts Update

Jackie RObbins2
Jackie Robbins, a clinical musician with tremendous experience and ability, is very actively working in our Therapeutic Arts Program. She provides therapeutic music and support services for A4AC, specializing in the cello for certified bedside clinical musical services, and group and memory care sessions. Since February, Jackie has performed nine sessions at Hospice and other medical facilities.

Here is a note from Jackie about one of these experiences:

"I decided to go to Treasure Coast Hospice Care in Stuart and play in the lobby for people. It was a very active day at the Harper House. And I saw a lot of people wearily sharing poignant family conversations. I started playing lovely themes from around the world and soon heads had started popping out of rooms all over the 16 bed facility. One daughter walked over and said can you play 'you are my sunshine?' I broke into it right in the middle of the famous theme from a piano Concerto by Tchaikovsky. Several minutes later she walked back to me and asked if I could play any 'patriotic songs' for her dad who didn't have very long to live.

I opened the piano bench and found an entire three ring binder of American and patriotic songs and realized there were very many veterans that came through hospice, as I had been informed about during my Treasure Coast Hospice care training certification.

I played page after page from the treasure trove of patriotic and homemade American tunes that I now know are available for me to insert into my repertoire, enhancing the arrangements I already have available."

This excerpt was pulled from Jackie's notes from one of the many sessions she provided. We are so thankful to have her in our network as she continues to help people through her music.

If you would like to be a part of our Therapeutic Arts Program let us know!  Our goal is to serve as many at-risk youth and elderly people with the healing power of the arts as possible.  We currently have so much of the area's most tremendous talent involved.  We thank them, and you!

Artists for a Cause supports artists
who serve community needs.

logo

Artists for a Cause is a national nonprofit organization that supports artists who serve community needs. Some programs help artists and charities to get the most out of their collaboration, while most produce results directly, by feeding the poor, healing the sick, or solving other problems through unique artistic solutions. Additionally, we never ask artist professionals in a struggling industry to donate or give away their livelihood.  No program is merely about art for arts’ sake –
Artists for a Cause is about the arts as a solution.

We would like to thank the following for their support.
