Singing with the Stars - And the Winners Are!

singing-345

Singing with the Stars was an incredible success!   We are overwhelmed by the support we received from the super-talented Star and Professional Singers, the community who attended and our generous sponsors. Congratulations to Christine Jung, resident of Mariner Sands, who took home Top Fundraising and Overall winner awards. The Top Performance award went to Gil Smart and Eileen Walentin.

The winners had formidable but friendly competition from five other community Notables, who were each paired with a professional partner. They included: Lynn Kreps, with Jimmy Paul Choral Director of Jubilate at Jensen Beach High School; Heather Morris, with Shane Thomas; Preethi Sekharan, with Jimmy Paul; and Michael Terrio, with Eileen Walentin. Each and every duo brought a unique style, talent and twist to the show and were awarded special recognition ranging from Most Fun Song Choice, Most Difficult Song Choice, to Most Creative Staging and Fundraising.

We also received wonderful media coverage from the Hometown News and The Stuart News. To read all about the event click here. To see amazing photos taken by Steven Martine in our Facebook album click here

We want to thank all attendees for your support this season, especially those who wrote A4AC in as a recipient of Charity Week donations!  We are especially thankful to Tim and Maureen Cotter for all that they have done to support our cause and make this opportunity possible for all of us!

In addition to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, attendees were treated to performances by exceptional young A4AC Talent! Fourth grader Lexie Laverty performed with her mother Carla Holbrook. Guests were also treated to a duet by
our Founder & Executive Director Terry Barber and our Club Liaison Susie McAllister!

If you or someone you know in either Martin County Florida or St. Louis City or County would be interested to host an event that could support the development of young artists that are actively involved with Artists for a Cause programs, please email Ashley@a4ac.org

Therapeutic Arts Update

"Thank you once again, for the opportunity to entertain these beautiful people at Grand Oaks, said Jonathan.  "They are always so greatly appreciative."

Jonathan Cummings had another great performance at Grand Oaks on April 6. Activities Director Heather Morris commented that she was going to have to get a bigger room! She had 30 people in attendance, which was a record and a significant increase from last time which was 22 people in attendance which was also a record!

Val Lally continues her watercolor classes and this month instructed residents as they painted an underwater scene with fish, coral and starfish. It was so much fun for all involved!

Artists for a Cause supports artists who serve community needs.
logo

Artists for a Cause is a national nonprofit organization that supports artists who serve community needs. Some programs help artists and charities to get the most out of their collaboration, while most produce results directly, by feeding the poor, healing the sick, or solving other problems through unique artistic solutions. Additionally, we never ask artist professionals in a struggling industry to donate or give away their livelihood.  No program is merely about art for arts’ sake –
Artists for a Cause is about the arts as a solution.

We would like to thank the following for their support.
